These girls gave it back to tormentors

If you are one of those who think that women are the weaker sex, think again. The two women in the photograph could prove you wrong.

Sonali Gajne and her friend Madhuri Davende, both 21, were riding a TVS Scooty on a clear Kalyan road when Sonali received a mobile call. She let Madhuri attend the call since she was driving. As Madhuri took the call, two thieves on a Bajaj Pulsar - rider Naseem Khan, 21, and Vikas Pande, 17, came close to them and the pillion rider, Vikas, snatched their mobile phone and sped away.

Sonali pulled the accelerator of her 60cc Scooty which was virtually no match for the 150cc Pulsar. The determined girls continued to chase them for over three kms and reached the Shahad flyover.

At the flyover a truck that was taking a ‘U’ turn blocked the road which forced the thieves to halt. Sonali caught up with the thieves. Madhuri reached out and brought Vikas down. Due to this, Naseem Khan lost control and fell off the bike.

Madhuri hung on to Vikas Pande and also raised an alarm, thereby alerting passers-by who grabbed the thieves. Khan has been arrested while Pande has been sent to a remand home. Several social organisations have honoured the girls for their act of bravery
