RANCHI: A Jharkhand police official was transferred after he fined cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni at his hometown here for using tinted glasses on his vehicle despite having the permission to do so.

Traffic sub-inspector Saifuddin enforced the fine on Tuesday although Dhoni pleaded that he had special permission to use tinted glass keeping in mind his security needs.

But the officer did not relent. The Ranchi administration has banned the use of tinted glass on vehicles.

Saifuddin has been transferred to Bahu Bazar from Albter Ekka police station, officials said.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda said: "Dhoni enjoys a special status. He is known internationally. He faces security threat and he should not be treated like a common man."
