PUNE: Security was beefed up on Tuesday at vital installations in and around the city in view of intelligence information of a possible terrorist attack, officials said.
The precautionary measure was taken following an alert received from the Intelligence Bureau that terrorists could target vital commercial establishment in the city, Additional Director General of Police (State CID) Jayant Umranikar said.
Security was stepped up around the Indian Air Force-controlled Lohegaon airport near Pune, believed to be a terrorist target, apart from the Hinjawadi IT Park, off the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on the outskirts of the city.
