Sensex settles lower in volatile trade

The benchmark Sensex ended little lower on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on emergence of profit selling by funds at higher levels and closed with a loss of over 11 points.

MUMBAI: The benchmark Sensex ended little lower on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on emergence of profit selling by funds at higher levels and closed with a loss of over 11 points.
 
The 30-share index, Sensex, which traded higher over 100 points at mid-session, shed all the gains to close lower by 11.19 points at 13,860.52 on profit booking in index-heavy stocks. It touched a high of 13,971.82 and a low of 13,763.39.
 
In similar fashion, the second wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 5.40 points at 3,983.40 after moving between 4,011.45 and 3,969.65.
