Forensic team arrives at the house of horror in Noida, nearly a week too late

NEW DELHI: Nearly a week after the unearthing of the Noida killings, a team of forensic experts descended on the house of the main accused Moninder Singh Pandher, but experts fear that most clues in the house may have already been destroyed due to wide-scale trespassing by one and all.

The team arrived from Agra, which is merely few hours away from Noida, at nearly 5.00 pm, but by the time they got down to work of collecting evidence, much is feared to have lost due to the easy access to the house for villagers, journalists, senior officials and hangers-on.

Senior public prosecutor AK Sharma agrees that much evidence could have been destroyed or tampered with. In the first few days, the villagers had ransacked the house and damaged property. Showpieces in the drawing room have been smashed and the beds have been broken with the mattresses swirled all around.

The wall hangings were flung on the floor, while the mini-bar, which stocked up international brands of liquor like Drambuiue, Napolean Brandy, Old Monk, Bacardi etc too have been tampered with. The kitchen though remains spotless and both the fridges are also operational.

The bathroom where co-accused Surinder, the servant, killed the children looked bare with dirty tiles and hanging clothes. The police have no hang-ups in letting journalists or others touch the evidence.

Meanwhile, doctors at the Noida civil hospital said that the forensic report of the skeletons showed that the heads of all the victims have been severed with extreme precision and in a similar manner.

Chief Medical officer Dr Vinod Kumar said: “Out of the seventeen skulls, eleven are of girls determined by their hair growth. Six genders are yet to be ascertained. We have sealed the remains and sent them to Agra and Hyderabad for further tests.”

The accused Moninder and Surinder have been taken to Ahmedabad for a narco-analysis test. Due to the extreme and varied contradictions in the case, the police are depending on the narco-analysis report, though it is not admissible in court. The Noida police has also set up a 13-member special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the killings.

Though the situation in Nithari village remained relatively calm, the steady flow of political leaders kept on trickling. The families of the victims are slowly trudging back to their normal lives. “We can’t afford to mourn the loss of our children.

We have to earn our daily wages,” said Sonia who lost her eight-year-old son. Nithari is full of migrants, a majority of who work as maids, cleaners or drivers.
