MUMBAI: International pop singer Nelly Furtado was to originally feature on the soundtrack of the film "Rang De Basanti" (RDB) but changes in producers and other things resulted in her not being there on it, composer A R Rehman said on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference ahead of a concert featuring both artistes, Rehman and Furtado did not rule out collaborating in the future though they would have to decide which language it would be in since both of them are fluent with multiple languages.

Furtado, who can trace her ancestry to Goa, said that this was her first visit to India and while growing up with Indians in Canada, she had sung in Hindi at marriages and a temple.

"I grew up hearing Indian artistes like Lata Mangeshkar and though am not very fluent with the language I do know songs like 'Yeh Samaa' and 'Kabhi Kabhi'," said Furtado who recently released an album titled 'Loose'.

She also accepted requests from assembled mediapersons and sang one line from "Kabhi Kabhi" to applause.

"I will be visiting Agra but unfortunately I will not be able to visit Goa which holds special significance for me," said Furtado speaking of her trip to India.

Furtado was also all praise for India's Oscar candidate "Rang De Basanti" and said that she was hoping to act in the English version of the same film.

Rehman also unveiled his latest single "Pray for me brother", at the press conference, a song which has been sung in support of the United Nations' fight against tuberculosis.

He also confirmed that two of his songs from the soundtrack of "Rang De Basanti" and a song from the soundtrack of "Water" had been shortlisted for the Oscars.

The concert organised by Nokia at the Andheri Sports Complex on Sunday, will also feature performances from artistes like Josh and Bollywood actors like Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor and Koena Mitra.
