Just two days after the death of a passenger at the airport, another passenger died at the domestic airport on Sunday. Manickchand Jain, 53, who came to Mumbai for a medical treatment from Chennai, died of heart attack. The body has been flown back to Chennai.

The incident happened at 2am when Jain boarded the Kingfisher Airlines’ Mumbai-Chennai flight. He came to the city to undergo treatment for Hepatitis. The Kingfisher spokesperson said he “looked unwell and unfit to fly”. The airhostess referred his case to the captain, who asked the passenger to be off-loaded.

Doctors at the airport were immediately informed. “Our doctor came soon but the patient had already died of a heart attack,” he said. Both the airlines and airport authorities maintain that the passenger was travelling against medical advice.

But the Mumbai International Airport Ltd spokesperson said, “We were not informed of the incident. Nor was the doctor called for. We were not given any information about the incident.” The airline, however, denied the allegation. “The airport doctor was informed of the incident. It is unfortunate that the operator, who is supposed to provide facilities to the airlines, does not own up,” he said.
