NEW DELHI: In a unique case of deposition, a Delhi court has recorded statements of a 12-year-old boy, who testified alleging he saw his father kill his mother last year.

Additional Sessions Judge Reena Singh Nag allowed recording of the minor's statements saying, "I am satisfied that the child is intelligent enough to understand the questions and give rational answers, so let him be examined on oath."

The boy told the court "Papa killed my mom by giving her knife injuries in the neck."

Detailing the incident, he alleged "papa put a jacket around the neck of mummy and pressed it hard. He intimidated her not to shout or he would kill her. When mummy started shouting for help, papa took out a knife and stabbed her in the neck and then ran away."

He ran to his neighbours and informed them about the incident. They rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead, the boy stated in his testimony last week.

"My parents had an estranged relationship and they were not staying in the same house when the incident happened," he said.

"Papa used to beat mummy, so she did not want to live with him," alleged the boy in his effort to reinforce the fact that his mother was forced to live in a different house with her four children.

The prosecution claimed that Ashok Kumar Kohli had on December 26, 2005, inflicted knife injuries on his wife Pushpa, a resident of east Vinod Nagar here, resulting in her death in a city hospital.
