Boy planted 'fake' bomb in Malegaon to incite riots: ATS

MUMBAI: A 'fake' bomb made by alleged conspirators behind serial blasts in Malegaon was given to a boy to be planted at a mosque in the textile town in a bid to incite sectarian violence, says a chargesheet filed on Thursday by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra Police.

The fake bomb was planted planted at the Mohammediya mosque on September 13, five days after blasts in the town killed 31 people. The device was subsequently seized by ATS.

The ATS, which probed the case, said accused Noorul Huda Samusudoha and two unidentified persons handed the device to a boy who kept it in a ventilator at the mosque.

The ATS filed its chargesheet in a special MCOCA Court against nine accused today as the Maharashtra government handed over the case to the CBI.

The chargesheet said four persons, including a Pakistani national, were wanted in connection with the bombings.
