The countdown has already begun for the beach blow-out party at Zanzibar in Goa for New Year’s Eve, organised by DJs Nikhil Chinapa and Pearl.

It’s an annual affair for Nikhil and Pearl and this year they are planning something spectacular with the opening party by Jim Labisko, a well-known DJ from UK.

“We began with a party which was attended by 15 people four years ago and last year the count was over 10,000 – so the response has been fantastic,” says Nikhil.

The party which begins on December 26 goes on till January 2 and is free of charge.

“People can just come and chill, dance, walk in or walk out,” he laughs.

Goa, which is known for its raves and trance parties, will this time see progressive, electro and house all coming together. “We have a tradition of predicting the next big trend at the end of the party. 2007 according to me is going to be big for chunky percussion-based rhythms with a tinge of Latino music. Trance will also grow bigger and electro, which is huge, will slowly die out,” he predicts.

These parties have given a boost to Submerge (the underground outfit kick-started by Nikhil offering alternative dance music to club-hoppers.) bringing together lovers of this music from all over the country at the end of every year. “It’s a gift that Submerge gives to itself,” smiles Nikhil.
