KANDAHAR: Eight Afghan civilians were killed and nine wounded in a late-night NATO airstrike targeting militants in a village in southern Afghanistan, a provincial governor said on Wednesday.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Kabul confirmed the attack in Zhari district of Kandahar province was believed to have killed civilians but could not say how many.
"Eight civilians have died and nine others were injured in that attack in Zhari," Kandahar governor Asadullah Khalid said.
