Lalit Modi denies I-T raid at residence

The searches were conducted by Jaipur unit of the Income Tax Department following charges of alleged tax evasion by Modi, a top I-T official told PTI.

MUMBAI: The Income-Tax Department on Saturday conducted searches at the residences of President of Rajasthan Cricket Association and Board of Control for Cricket in India Vice President Lalit Modi, PTI reported.

The searches were conducted by Jaipur unit of the Income Tax Department following charges of alleged tax evasion by Modi, a top I-T official told PTI.

The I-T team also searched Modi's residence in south Mumbai, the sources told PTI.

Modi, however, told DNA that there was no raid at his residence. ''I have only heard about it on India TV. The news is totally false. Nobody has visited us.''

He added that he had served a legal notice to Rajat Sharma's India TV channel, Punjab Kesari and Dainik Bhaskar.
