With an all new, much slimmer look, Madhavan is hoping for a rise in his prospects in Bollywood.

Madhavan plays an important role in 'Guru' which is expected to release by the end of this year, and he has lost oodles of weight to fit into his role. He says, "Working with Abhishek Bachchan was a dream come true. I have always been a fan of his. And coincidentally he has played my role in most of the South Indian films that were remade in Hindi. He's a great friend. In fact, the first day I met him, I told him how I have appreciated him all these years."

Maddy, as he fondly called, says that he feels privileged to work with Aishwarya Rai. "Not only is she exotically beautiful, to my utter amazement she came across as a warm and genuine human being."

Director Mani Ratnam and Madhavan have worked together in many South films together. "Yet, I cannot think of being in a back-slapping term with Mani sir. Every film is more and more tough. For him, just being good is not good enough. I get to learn so much from him."

Madhavan, whose last Tamil film 'Tambi' was a huge hit, is now also a part of Rituparno Ghosh's film, 'Sunglass' and Sanjay Gupta's 'Alibaug'.

Madhavan's big ambition is to do a Karan Johar film. "I am always doing these action-oriented films, where I have to hang from a rope or do something drastic. I want to do a hardcore romantic film, where I am dressed well and the shoots are all happy and safe."
