List of accused in British alleged air bombing plot

Following is a list of the 11 people charged Monday in connection with an alleged plot to put suicide bombers onto US-bound airliners, as released by the Crown Prosecution Service in London

LONDON: Following is a list of the 11 people charged Monday in connection with an alleged plot to put suicide bombers onto US-bound airliners, as released by the Crown Prosecution Service in London:                      

 

1.Ahmed Abdullah Ali, also known as Abdullah Ali Ahmed Khan
2.Tanvir Hussain

3. Umar Islam, also known as Brian Young

4. Arafat Waheed Khan

5. Assad Ali Sarwar

6. Adam Khatib

7. Ibrahim Savant

8. Waheed Zaman    

 

Charged under Section 1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977 of conspiring "with other persons to murder other persons" between January 1 and August 10 this year;        

 

Also charged, under Section 5(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006, with "the intention of committing acts of terrorism (by having) engaged in conduct to give effect to their intention to smuggle the component parts of improvised explosive devices onto aircraft and assemble and detonate them on board" between January 1 and August 10.                 

 

A 17-year-old male, not named because he is a minor    

 

Charged under Section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000 with having "in his possession a document or record, namely a book on improvised explosives devices, some suicide notes and wills with the identities of persons prepared to commit acts of terrorism and a map of Afghanistan containing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism", between October 1 last year and August 10 this year.                          

 

Cossar Ali         

 

Charged under Section 38B(1)(a) and (2) of the Terrorism Act 2000 with having, "on diverse days" between January 1 and August 10, "information which she knew or believed might be of material assistance in preventing the commission of another person -- namely, Ahmed Abdullah Ali aka Abdullah Ali Ahmed Khan -- of an act of terrorism and failed to disclose it as soon as reasonably practicable".                           

 

Mehran Hussain             

 

Charged under Section 38B(1)(a) and (2) of the Terrorism Act 2000 with having information "which he knew or believed might be of material assistance in preventing the commission of another person, namely Nabeel Hussain, of an act of terrorism and failed to disclose it as soon as reasonably practicable".
