COLOMBO: India assured themselves of a 1-2 finish in the women's individual squash event at the 10th South Asian Games on Sunday.

Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal will fight it out for the gold medal at the Colombo Gymkhana Club on Monday after both had relatively easy passage into the title round, notching victories over their respective Sri Lankan opponents.

It was not such a good outing for the Indian men who found the going tough against the fancied Pakistanis and went down tamely.

Joshna, one of the top 50 players in the world, set the ball rolling with a 9-3 9-0 9-5 victory over Tehani Guruge while Dipika made it an all-India final with a 9-7 9-6 9-3 result over Nirasha Guruge.

The Indian men were no match to the Pakistanis who hardly broke sweat in booking their place in the final.

Mansoor Zaman beat Harinderpal Sandhu 9-0 9-2 9-2 while Amir Atlas Khan ensured that the gold and silver would go to Pakistan when he defeated Gaurav Nandrajog 9-2 9-3 9-3 in the second semi-final.
