MUMBAI:  Twenty-one workers of Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena were arrested on Sunday for creating trouble at a south Mumbai hospital which allegedly refused to discharge a girl whose family reportedly could not foot the hospital bills.

MNS workers, led by one Arvind Gawade, were arrested for rioting and later released on bail by Azad Maidan police, police sources said.

Gawade along with 20 MNS workers barged into the south Mumbai hospital after they learnt that one Ayushi Sharma (12), who was treated at the hospital, was reportedly not allowed to leave after the girl's family expressed inability to foot medical expenses.

An altercation broke out between MNS workers and hospital authorities following which the party workers allegedly ransacked the lobby of the hospital, sources said.

Meanwhile, Azad Maidan police said that the girl was discharged from the hospital, although it is not known as to who foot her hospital bills.
