Centre notifies CAS for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata

NEW DELHI: The Government on Monday issued a notification for the roll-out of Conditional Access System in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata by this year-end.

The notification was issued by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, which said it should be in place in the notified areas by December 31 this year.

Conditional Access System (CAS), allows cable TV viewers to pick channels of their choice and pay subscription only for them.

Implementation of CAS, which is already operational in Chennai, would mean that cable TV subscribers would have to receive channels through a set-top box (STB).
