A Tokyo police inspector resigned in disgrace after he fondled a woman's breasts and punched her in the face when she complained, the Metropolitan Police Department said on Saturday.
 
Police have sent documents to prosecutors accusing Itabashi Police Station inspector Taku Yamazaki, 57, of assault and of breaking a Tokyo Metropolitan Government ordinance outlawing people from creating a public nuisance.
 
Yamazaki admitted to the charges.
 
"I don't recall fondling anybody, but if the victim says I did it, I must have done it. I'm terribly sorry," said Yamazaki.
 
Police said on April 17, Yamazaki approached a woman in her 40s waiting at a crossing in the Oyama Higashi district of Itabashi-ku and squeezed her breasts. When the woman demanded he stop, Yamazaki punched her in the face.
 
Earlier, a Tokyo police officer resigned following charges for fondling a woman's buttocks on an escalator at a railway station, police officials said.
 
The assistant inspector touched the buttocks of a woman in her 30s on an escalator at JR Tamachi station in Minato-ku, on June 17, investigators said.
 
 
Two of Mumbai’s infamous cases include dismissed constable Chandrakant Pawar, who was sentenced by a court recently to 15 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor on October 17, 2005.
 
The other is former constable Sunil More was sentenced to 12 years on similar charges in April 2006 in the Marine Drive rape case.
