JK Rowling has declared that her final book in the Potter series will see two key characters die. With Sirius Black and Dumbledore already out of the way, Potter-fans speculate on the twin casualties.

I want more Potters

Today in school, as usual they gave us our own copy of the newspaper. As I reached the bottom of the first page, I caught the article that I wish didn't exist. I stared in disbelief at what I read. I just couldn't believe it! It read ‘Rowling kills two characters’.

As I went through the rest of the article, I felt really sad to even think that my favourite author was going to write only one more Harry Potter book. When the first book came out, I was contemplating whether to buy it or not. Luckily, my aunt solved the dilemma by sending me the book. It enthralled me so much that I finished the book in two days… the rest, as they say was history.

I read every Harry Potter book that was ever published. I think JK Rowling should keep on writing. I love her books and I think that she is a simply superb author with a wonderful imagination. I am shocked that after a year, the Hogwarts Express will not run again to my most favourite place in the world — Hogwarts.

I know many people like me who also love her books and who will agree that she should continue writing. — Jiya Jaisingh. Juhu

Severus Snape has to die

I am sure it is not going to be Harry Potter, just because everyone I know thinks it's going to be him. It would be Lord Voldemort or Severus Snape as they are evil. This is the last book and I am sure the good will defeat evil like in all fantasy books. Also because Snape killed Dumbledore, people would want Snape to die.

My favourite among the series is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It is the most vivid of all the books. Also, in the fifth book of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the wizard war that takes place at the end is well depicted. You can almost see it happening in front of you. Talking of favourite characters, the Weasley brothers are hilarious. — Rohit Raj. Ghatkopar

Hermione might be harmed

I really don't know who is going to get killed in this one, as this is going to be the last book in the series. I think it may be Hermione as she is very close to Harry. Voldemort may kill her to get back at Harry Potter. Hagrid could be another possible target as he too is very close to Harry.

My favourite among the Potter series is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The chapter where Harry finds love in Ginny, touched me a lot and I was very happy for them. — Mansi Shah. Dadar

It's surely not Harry

I do not think Harry will die in JK Rowling's next Potter instalment. Though this is her last book in the series, it is Harry's character that draws millions to the book. I don't think she will disappoint her readers. Also after Dumbledore and Sirius Black, no one important enough is left to be killed. But yes, there is a likelihood of either Ron or Hermione getting killed.

The best among the series was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The instance where Harry comes to know that Sirius is his godfather was the best. — Ishita Sinha. Andheri

I want Lord Voldemort to die

This is the seventh book coming up in the Harry Potter series, and sadly this is going to be the last one. Everyone is saying that it might be Harry who gets killed, though I just don't want that to happen. I think Lord Voldemort will be killed as evil has to be wiped off eventually.

There is a possibility that Hagrid may die. Keeping in mind that those who died in the earlier books were close to Harry, this may just be the trend that JK Rowling will follow.
My favourite book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The part where the finalists are trying to reach the Triwizard Cup is engrossing. The scene where Harry confronts the dragon is also well-described. Ron’s my favourite. He is very cute and funny. — Mamta Kamtikar. Goregaon

Maybe it's Professor McGonagall

I have read only three books in the series and am not too sure how to predict the trend. Dumbledore who loved Harry is dead. Now maybe Professor McGonagall, who favours Harry, will die. With her death, Harry might discover some dark secrets or mysteries. However, this is unlikely as Rowling plans to close the series with this book. I also feel Draco Malfoy may die in a duel with Harry.

I loved the climax of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, where he comes face-to-face with the enemy for the first time. How his friends help him to get to the stone is endearing. It is also in this book that Harry comes to know that he is a wizard and the way he, along with his friends, overcomes spells and cracks clues is incredible. — Arpita Dey. Sion
