Sangita Ghosh talks about the sensuality quotient in ‘Viraasat’ and on finding love

Playing protagonist in Ravi Chopra’s ‘Virasaat’ (Star Plus), actor Sangita Ghosh (Priyanka) has taken centre stage once again. A saga of warring families, the show spins  on the axis of love. What has perked up audience curiosity is the chemistry that she shares with co-star Rohit Roy (Rohit Lamba). Playing husband and wife, the duo has displayed unabashed sensuality, something not common to the small-screen.

Marital magic

Sangita reveals, “As Raviji says, the show is about Romeo and Juliet after marriage! Ours, being a marital relationship, it involves caring, arguments and fights.”  She justifies the show’s underlying  passion saying, “The scenes were required for the story. We have not done it to garner TRPs.  There are a series of such scenes coming up, including the wedding night one.”

Sangita takes a clinical view, “There were 40 people around me while we were shooting. I just did it as my job. We do not intend to make audiences uncomfortable as we want them to watch the show. While some would get uncomfortable watching a couple holding hands or hugging, some may not feel so even whilst watching them kissing. So to each his own.” Sangita is confident about her on-screen chemistry with Rohit. “People have commented that we look good together as husband and wife. Rohit and I share an easy body language that is without inhibitions.”

My man

For someone who has been voted as the hottest female actor on TV, what would Sangita seek in her partner? Sangita says matter-of-factly, “There is no perfect man. If he were, then he would be God and I can’t live with God! I have my own drawbacks. Looks have never mattered to me. Being able to connect is more important.”

Rohit gets bold

“On TV, one has to adhere to limits. But the sensuality seems just right. As actors we have a responsibility towards the audiences. Though I felt uncomfortable, Sangita assured me that it would look good on screen. It’s time we stopped being prudish about romance and sexuality between husband and wife. Our country is open to Western channels. So it’s high time we show husband and wife in a normal manner.”
