Fugitive in sex scam surrenders

Anil Sethi named by victim Yasmeena as one of those who sexually exploited her, had been evading CBI sleuths for almost a month.

SRINAGAR: Former additional advocate general Anil Sethi, declared an absconder in the Kashmir sex scam and for whom a reward of Rs200,000 had been announced, surrendered before a court in Jammu on Wednesday.

Sethi, named by victim Yasmeena as one of those who sexually exploited her, had been evading CBI sleuths for almost a month. He surrendered before Additional District Magistrate Amit Sharma around 3.30 pm. Police immediately took him into custody and secured his transit remand for three days.

He will be taken to Srinagar and handed over to the CBI for further investigations. Sethi is the son of R P Sethi, a former Supreme Court judge and former head of Kashmir’s Accountability Commission.

Sethi is the second person to surrender in the sex scandal after Border Security Force Deputy Inspector General K S Padhi.
