Do you want to adopt more kids?
Yeah. Next, we’ll adopt.
Do you know where from?
We don’t know yet. But we’re looking at different countries. It’s going to be what’s best for Mad and Z right now. It’s which race would fit best with the kids.
You give a third of your income to refugees and other causes. Is that true?
Yeah.
That’s incredible...
Yeah, well, I have a stupid income for what I do. You know what I mean?
There are a lot of people who have that income and more and don’t give. Do you feel it makes a difference?
I do. I’ve been really lucky, ‘cause I meet people who say, “God, we really need a well or we need something in the school.” And I can go back a year later and see it built.
Why refugees? There are so many causes, why are you focusing on a problem which is almost intractable? There have always been refugees and there will always be.
I went to Cambodia and learned a lot about the situation there. I got this book on the UN and the UNICEF and UNDP. I was reading the chapter on refugees that said almost 20 million people are displaced. I was shocked. The more I read about it, the more I thought they really are the most vulnerable people in the world. They really don’t have an option. It’s not just that they’re poor and hungry. They are in fear for their lives. They are going to be persecuted for their race, their religion, their nationality. They don’t have the protection of their own country. They’re somewhere, uprooted, with their families, relying on somebody to open their doors, for someplace to lay their head down.
