Six of a family stabbed to death in Sangli

SANGLI: Six members of a family were stabbed to death at Gavade Mala near Arag village at Miraj tehsil of this district, early morning on Thursday.

Police said that the incident occurred on Thursday morning at the house of Gavade family near their field in Arag.

The deceased have been identified as - Balasaheb Gavade (50), wife Shrimanti (40), three children - Jayashree (18), Sunil (15) Chaya (12) and Balasaheb's sister Shantabai (60).

Cause of the crime was yet to be ascertained, the police said. Miraj rural police have registered an offence under relevant sections of IPC and is investigating.
