BANGALORE: Looking to strengthen their presence in tier-II and tier-III towns for fueling growth in India, Reliance Communications and Intel have joined hands to offer instant and uninterrupted Internet connectivity with Intel-powered PCs.

The gameplan is to leverage each other's distribution networks, senior executives of the two companies said at a news conference here on Tuesday.

As a start, Reliance announced the joint programme with Intel under which users purchasing systems from Genuine Intel Dealers in 11 cities/towns of Karnataka would be offered Intel-powered PCs with Reliance wireless products to avail of Internet connectivity.

The programme will be rolled out nationally in the next few months, said Inder Bajaj, Head, Post-Paid Business, Reliance Communications.

With its pan-India CDMA2000 1X network, Reliance wireless products enable anytime, anywhere, high-speed internet connectivity on PCs, laptops and other computing devices through its Netconnect service platform, its officials said.

"The tie-up will help in increasing Internet penetration in rural and small towns," said Bajaj.

Managing Director, Sales and Marketing, Intel (South Asia), John McClure, said his company expects growth to come in India vastly from tier-III and tier-IV towns in three to four years.

"Our collaboration with Reliance would enable uninterrupted high speed internet connectivity at very affordable rates through our wide channel partner network," McClure said.
