Rani Mukerji says she’d love to spend more time with her month-old
niece Mishti

She’s one of the busiest stars in Bollywood today and that explains why Rani Mukerji wishes there were more than 24 hours in a day.

“There is just so much to do and never enough time. There are times when I wish that there were 36 or 48 hours in a day,” she laughs. But what would she do if her wish did come true? “Oh, I’d work more,” says the workaholic, adding, “I’d also spend more time playing with my niece Mishti.”

Talking about time, Rani has added another product to her list of endorsements. She joins Aamir Khan as an ambassador for Titan, only she will be promoting women’s watches for the brand. Her reason for signing on? “My father had gifted me a Titan watch after I completed Class 10, so I guess there is an emotional connect of some sort.”

In an industry where everything happens on BST (Bollywood Standard Time — at least two hours behind the scheduled time), how punctual is she?

“Quite punctual actually, but there are times when I just can’t help it. Sometimes one gets delayed because of another person or because a shot needs to be completed.” That explains why Rani doesn’t get too bothered if someone else is late. “People have reasons…”

On the movies front, Rani has a release coming up in August and it’s a Karan Johar film.
“I haven’t had a movie release in about a year, so like everyone else I’m also looking forward to it. My character Maya in ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ is complex. I hope everyone appreciates the film and my work because so much hard work has gone into making the film.”

She’s currently shooting for Siddharth Anand’s untitled film with Saif Ali Khan, besides spending quality time with her family (especially Mishti) and doing up her new house in Juhu. “It’s going to take a while before that’s ready,” she says before rushing off.
