Sahil Zaroo was interrogated for nearly four hours by police in connection with the mysterious ailment of Rahul Mahajan and the death of Moitra.
NEW DELHI: Sahil Zaroo, who allegedly procured drugs for Rahul Mahajan at a late night party on Thursday, was interrogated for nearly four hours on Sunday by police in connection with the mysterious ailment of the slain Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan's son and the death of his aide Vivek Moitra.
Sahil, who was present at the 7, Safdarjung Road residence of Pramod Mahajan along with three others, was quizzed by a team of Special Cell sleuths and Delhi police at the Chanakyapuri Police Station after he was brought here from Srinagar.
Sahil is also understood to have been confronted with a Nigerian national who is suspected to have sold him drugs for Rs 15,000.
After his interrogation, Sahil was taken to Patiala House Court for production before a magistrate. Sahil was arrested by a team of Delhi Police officials in Srinagar for allegedly procuring drugs for the party at Mahajan's residence.
A local court sent Zaroo to eight-day police remand till June 12. Though the police sought 10 days custody for interrogation of the 21-year-old, Metropolitan Magistrate Rajiv Kumar granted only eight days' remand.
Harish Sharma, the secretary of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, is believed to have been questioned by the police after his discharge from Apollo Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment of high blood pressure.
Crime Branch sleuths have been conducting raids across the capital and its adjoining areas to nab drug peddlers in connection with the case. At least 12 people, including eight Nigerians, were picked up from various places across the capital in connection with the case.
"We have detained some persons, including Nigerians, for questioning in connection with the case," a police source said.
So far the Delhi police have questioned 20 people, including the trio- Tishay Khanna, Karan Ahuja and Rahul Malhotra - who had visited the late BJP leader's 7, Safdarjung Road residence on Thursday night along with Sahil.
