Policeman killed, 3 hurt in militant attack

SRINAGAR: A policeman was killed and three persons were injured in a grenade attack by militants on a security forces vehicle in the busy Goni Khan market on Tuesday.

Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack which was carried out around 12.40 p.m. in the market near Iqbal Park, official sources said.

Two policemen and as many civilians were injured in the attack. Constable Ghulam Nabi of Auxillary Police succumbed to injuries later and others were being treated at the SMHS Hospital, official sources said.

The security forces also fired a few rounds in the air after the attack, they said.
