NEW DELHI: Friday was a day of much deliberations and planning amongst the students. On Saturday, a huge rally is planned in the city wherein people from all walks of life like lawyers, chartered accountants, Delhi University students, shopkeepers, traders, parents, senior citizens and students from other states will be participating. The rally will begin from Maulana Azad College and is likely to proceed to Jantar Mantar.

"Tomorrow's rally will be a show of strength. Notices, termination letters or police action will not deter us," said Sasmit Narangi, a student at AIIMS. Ironically, it is the police who are on tenterhooks about the rally.

A peaceful protest was also organised at India Gate wherein the parents of students on strike protested. "My daughter is a medical student. I retired from a public sector undertaking wherein a number of seats were reserved for the SC/ST. I have seen my juniors get promoted simply because they belonged to category and take reservations for their children again. This entire system needs to be finished," said Sudershan Kumar. A lot of parents were angry that the government was still being so complacent when so many medical students were on a hunger strike and collapsing.
