The film has been cleared without cuts, with an A certificate and a disclaimer.

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Film Certification has cleared The Da Vinci Code but with an "adults only" certification. The film will also carry a disclaimer that it is a work of fiction.

But the movie will not hit the screens today, as was scheduled; the film's distributor, Sony Pictures, has deferred the release by at least seven days.

No cuts have been recommended in the film, which will have a 15-second-long disclaimer at the beginning and in the end, as demanded by Christian groups.

Information and Broadcasting Minister PR Dasmunsi told reporters that the CBFC conceded the demand considering the sensibilities of Christians. The film, which shows Jesus Christ marrying his disciple Mary Magdalene, is considered blasphemous by many Christians.

CBFC member Vinayak Azad told DNA the board is waiting for Sony's reply to the recommended disclaimer.
