MUMBAI: The crack Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police will investigate the recent blasts in Parbhani and Nanded.

Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who also handles the home department told mediapersons that the ATS will explore the possibility of links between the two incidents.

Patil said ATS teams will now be stationed at Aurangabad and Nagpur to concentrate on detecting and curbing terrorist activities.

State DGP Dr P S Pasricha said that since May 9, when the police seized the first cache of arms and explosives, the police have been on the alert.

Patil also announced a cash award of Rs 2 lakh to the village of Verul near Aurangabad which helped the police in nabbing the terrorist who went hiding in the village.

On the incident in which the terrorists made a halt at Akashwani MLAs Hostel near Mantralaya before slinking away to Aurangabad, Patil said this fact came to light only after the driver of the vehicle was arrested.

So far,  11 arrests have been made in this connection.
