MUMBAI: With the merger plans going nowhere, Jet Airways on Thursday formally engaged itself as a consultant to operate Sahara Airlines. So, while Jet would technically run the airlines, it would have to wait before getting the full benefit of Sahara’s revenues on it books.

"The objective of the agreement is for Jet to assist the Sahara management in improving its overall performance and customer service as also to promote the interests of Sahara in India and overseas," Jet said in a statement.

As is widely known, several of top Jet honchos are joining Sahara as consultants (and not as employees). Dale Moss, the newly appointed Jet chief operating officer, would additionally look after the operations of Sahara. Jet’s marketing head Gaurang Shetty would have additional charge of marketing at Sahara. N Hariharan, who is vice president- chairman’s office, at Jet, would be heading Sahara’s human resources division. Similarly, K Mohan, vice-president, flight operations (special projects), would head Sahara’s flight operations.

There have been new appointments for Sahara, too. Jet has snapped up the Lufthansa Technik’s head of Berlin operations, Thomas Kuhn, to take over Sahara’s head of engineering & maintenance. Poh Leong Choo, former senior manager - cabin crew, Singapore Airlines, takes over as the head of Sahara’s customer services and inflight services.
