At least 21 people were killed and 26 injured when their bus plunged over a bridge into a dry river bed in Uttar Pradesh early on Wednesday, police said.

LUCKNOW: At least 21 people were killed and 26 injured when their bus plunged over a bridge into a dry river bed in Uttar Pradesh early on Wednesday, police said.
"Twenty-one persons have died in a bus accident near Rampur," said police spokesman Surendra Srivastava in the state capital Lucknow.
Srivastava said that 26 people had been hospitalized with injuries, three of them in critical condition. The accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle and it broke through the bridge's railings some 330 kilometers from Lucknow, police said.
The interstate bus was carrying 45 passengers en route to Haldwani in neighboring Uttaranchal.
