It was in the stars

Pramod Mahajan was warned twice recently by two different astrologers that his life was under threat and asked him to take adequate precautions. One of the astrologers, hailing from Bihar, apparently told him last month that he could be attacked by his own brother, a party leader closely associated with Mahajan, said.

The BJP leader was first warned by a less-known party worker who took astrology as a hobby. A research associate in IIT Delhi, he, party sources said, walked straight into Mahajan’s office and told about his astrological finding and urged him to take adequate precautions.

The BJP general secretary was then spending most of his time in Assam as in-charge of party affairs in the state and was overseeing the poll strategy.

It was thus naturally concluded he could face a threat from the extremist elements there. Sources said he had started wearing a bullet-proof vest during poll campaigning in that state. But nothing untoward happened there.

But another astrologer from Bihar was more precise. This astrologer met Mahajan with a party MLA, Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia, and apparently told him that his stars were not in right positions and could be attacked by his own brother.

It is not known if his unsolicited advice was taken with any seriousness by Mahajan.Mahajan had been wearing ‘ek-mukhi rudraksh’, which was given to him by a high-profile Congress leader, now a Minister of State at Centre after some persons had warned him that it was not good for his well-being.

However, the veracity  of the information could not be independently verified by DNA.
