Police bust inter-state gang, arrest 6

THANE: Police have busted an interstate gang of dacoits and arrested six persons late on Monday night.

Acting on a tip-off on a probable loot attempt at Kajal Petrol Pump, located at Camp No. III, the Ulhasnagar Crime Branch laid a trap on a bridge near a crematorium at Camp No. III.

Shortly after midnight police cornered the dacoits who arrived in a Tata Indica car.

The police also recovered two country-made pistols, eight live cartridges and a knife. Two accomplices, who came in a two-wheeler, managed to give a slip to the police.

Cops seized the car, weapons and a two wheeler.

The gangsters later revealed that the car and the two-wheelers were stolen from Bhopal. They also revealed the hideouts of some other accomplices, who have been arrested from different places in the last 24 hours.

Those arrested are: Bittu Singh Labha Singh, 23, Gaurpreet Sadhu Singh, 27, Sanjay alias Mukesh Sumiran Yadav, 21, Sandip Ramsingh Dhakad, 19, Nabi Mohammed Khan, 32, a resident of Vasai (E), and Sunil Ramchandra Sharma, 22.
