MUMBAI: Tried finding answers to questions like why was Einstein given credit for Newton’s work on the Net but failed? Try Yahoo India Answers.

Yahoo web search service has introduced the Indian chapter of its new venture, Yahoo Answers, to counter the already existing Google Answers, which is a paid service.

Any registered Yahoo user can post a question on the Yahoo Answers page, and other users will respond. The best answer gets points.

Questions can be up to 110 characters and should be in English. Local chapters of Yahoo Answers were launched in US, Australia, Canada and the UK in March and more are in the offing.

Neville Taraporewalla, country general manager, Yahoo India, told DNA Money, “Yahoo India Answers is a free service that will help web users find, use, share and expand all human knowledge. Using Yahoo Answers, people can more easily share their knowledge, personal experiences and opinions with their community to resolve everyday questions not answered by keyword searches.”

Taraporewalla said, “We are providing the service free but in the coming years, we will make it paid on highly specialised kind of information like if somebody wants to know where to dine out in a newer place especially during business trips.”
