PATNA: In a setback to Bollywood singer Udit Narayan, Bihar Women's Commission today found ‘prima facie true’ the complaint of the woman who claimed to be his "first" wife and decided to issue a notice to him after registering a case of breach of marriage soleminised in 1984.

After meeting Ranjana Narayan, who formally lodged a complaint with the Commission against her estranged husband Udit Narayan, state Women's Commission Chairperson Manju Prakash told reporters that the bank passbooks, ration card and other circumstantial evidences suggested that the singer was married to her.

“We have registered a case against Udit after her complaint has been found prima facie true,” Prakash said.

"We are going to serve a notice to Udit tomorrow itself asking himself to depose before the Commission within a fortnight", she said.

Prakash said the Commission would now legally contest the case. Tears welling her eyes, Ranjana argued before the panel that Udit had betrayed her and married Deepa, a Nepalese national.

“I want justice to be done and my rightful place of Udit's legally wedded wife restored,” she said.

A high-voltage drama was witnessed at a posh hotel here yesterday when Ranjana tried to force her entry into the suite occupied by Udit Narayan and his second wife.

Police came to the rescue of Udit and whisked him away to the airport to enable him catch a flight for New Delhi.
