GUWAHATI: With 10 more bodies recovered, the toll rose to 64 in the bus mishap at Surupeta in Assam's Barepeta district, a police official said on Friday.

The 10 bodies were found after water was drained out from the pond into which the bus, ferrying 90 people of a marriage party, fell, Barpeta district Additional Superintendent of Police Binoy said.

On Thursday 54 bodies, including that of 25 women and nine children, were recovered. The hunt for more bodies was continuing as some could have been buried in the mud at the bottom of the pond, he said.

Meanwhile, the 27 injured, including the groom and his mother, were under treatment at hospitals here, in Sorbhog and Patsala.
