Anna Hazare’s phone is tapped, claim sources

It seems that Anna Hazare is on the radar of the government yet again. Sources claim that the anti-graft crusader’s phone in all probability is being tapped. This has forced Hazare to use the phone of his associates to make confidential calls.

Post the split with Magsaysay awardee Arvind Kejriwal, Hazare has been busy reaching out to various people and social organisations. The aim of the new organistion, insiders say, will be to spear-head an apolitical movement which will also train people to choose “clean candidates” for the ensuing elections.
The issue of phone tapping had come to Hazare’s notice when some of his movements and details of several meetings got leaked. “During last year or so, similar incidents were reported by other team members like Kejriwal who avoided talking over the phone,” said a close confidant of Hazare.

It might be recollected that Kejriwal had also made similar claims of his phone being tapped in August. Such claims by Kejriwal had created a ruffle with the government denying the allegations.
Sources close to Hazare said that the recent fallout and also the activities of Hazare might have increased the curiosity of the government. This, they claim, might have propelled them to tap the phone of the anti-graft crusader.
