3 injured, as Pune constable’s gun misfires

Panic spread outside Bhavani Peth fire station at Lohiya Nagar after three bullets were accidentally fired from the carbine of a police constable injuring three on Thursday .

Constable Vilas Kashid, attached to Khadak police station, was at a tea stall when the incident took place. The three injured — Dilip Tekane, 25, Abid Salim Khan, 33, and Sandeep Adep, 33, — were taken to Sassoon hospital.

Senior police inspector, RL Kadam, Khadak police station said, “Kashid was carrying his gun. While having tea, his hand went near the trigger and the gun fired three rounds accidentally. Luckily no one was  hurt, as the gun was pointed downwards. The bullets first hit the ground and then struck the victims on their legs.”
