Yerwada may be his next home

In future, all of Sanjay Dutt’s mails may be directed to the Yerwada Central Prison in Pune.

“If he is kept in Mumbai or adjacent areas, there are chances of fans crowding outside the prison, which can add to the burden of the security personnel there,” explains a source.
“Additional security can easily be provided at the Yerwada jail, if required. We can get additional staff from city police and state reserve police force.”

A senior officer at Yerwada jail agrees. “The Thane jail is overpopulated, while at the Taloja jail is Arun Gawli (gangster-turned-politician in prison for murder). His gang members are in Aurangabad and Kolhapur, and the Nagpur jail is out of the question because of infrastructural issues.”

Yerwada prison and the staff are no strangers to Dutt. He had served 18 months there in 2007. Many jail staff have bittersweet memories of him.
