Far from the traditional marriages couples in urban setting's like Pune are finding new and quite unique ways to tie the proverbial knot! Inter alia, candid photography has topped the list.

City based photographer , Shekhar Karambelkar explains that couples prefer natural photos as the photographer captures real moments. "They want something creative and different without the interference and constant instructions from the photographer. The wedding day is a precious memory that should remain just their own."

It is not just on the wedding day that the couples want to preserve so pre-wedding shoots are gaining a lot of popularity too. "We planned to go to all the places the couple had met before the wedding and do some quick clicks there so they can relive their memories before the big day" says Karambelkar.

Along with creative pictures of the wedding some couples are also going in for the full package and getting fairy tale-like videos before they exchange the vow's.

"We capture moments from their wedding and fossil the rituals which play an important part in the traditional Indian wedding. The limited time frame for the short film makes it entertaining as most of the people would not prefer watching long videos," said Rayyan Inamdar, founder owner of Reel Action.

Couples want to have their own fairytale film where they are the star cast. They can also share these short films on social networking sites so their friends who missed the weddings can be a part of it too.

"I got a pre wedding and a wedding film made for my wedding which gave me a fairytale experience. Our pre wedding film included our journey compiled with short audio messages that we wanted to send out to each other before the big day. It feels special to share the screen with your partner and we plan to steal the limelight on our wedding day," said Summit Sharma, marriage scheduled on February 19.

Wedding cards too are taking new form, novel ideas like wedding posters, custom chocolate boxes and wine bottles with an invite as the label are just some of the new ways couples are planning to invite their loved ones."Digital cards are sharable on social media and emails. It is a great way for the new generation couples who have friends all over the world,"said Nikhil Parmar from Navkar Cards.

Shivani Bothra who lives in the U.S.A got married on January 6 said "I got a cartooned themed card done that told our story because he and I grew up together and this is what we bonded over. I wanted to immortalize that aspect of our relationship".

Quick Facts on the World Marriage Day

The world marriage day was first observed in Boston, U.S.A way back in 1981. It happened to be the second Sunday of February but more importantly it happened to be St. Valentine's Day. Back then the people encouraged the mayor, the Bishop and the Governor to proclaim it as the We Believe in marriage day. The idea caught on and by 1993 it spread to young couples of the world and eventually became the world marriage day.
