The general body (GB) meeting is usually attended by the media in Pune Cantonment Board, Khadki Cantonment Board and the DCB. But from the last few months, the DCB authorities have banned entry for the media.

Sanjay Pinjan, vice president of DCB, said, “According to section 44 of The Cantonment Act, 2006, the president of the board can ask persons other than board members to leave the hall to discuss important issues, but it does not mean that the media is banned for the entire proceedings of the general body meeting.”

Some media persons had gone to meet the board officials on Wednesday, but they said they were not treated well and were asked to leave the meeting hall.

Protesting against the officials’ behaviour, political parties on Thursday held a dharna and condemned the board officials’ behaviour.
