Terming the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in depression due to its failure on all the fronts, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that no prime minister in the world has ever blamed the main opposition party for the downfall of the economy.
Singh inaugurated the state executive meeting of the party at Balewadi sports complex and addressed the state unit office-bearers and elected representatives in a closed-door session.
Addressing the media, Singh said that BJP has never opposed any finance related bill in the Parliament but the prime minister has criticised his party for the country’s poor economic situation.
The BJP chief said that the party was carrying out its responsibility as an opposition in both the Houses with a sense of duty towards the electorate and the primary responsibility of running the Parliament smoothly vested with the Congress, the largest party in the UPA coalition.
He blamed the 18-20% rupee devaluation in the past few months to wrong economic policies, wrong intention and rampant corruption. He said that the UPA government has failed on economic and security fronts, and has reached the level of selling gold which is worse than the 1991 crisis.
