Pune: Since the admission process for the first year graduation has begun in the city and students are preparing for the admissions, the University of Pune has appealed to the students to check the college conditions, their intake capacity, the courses they are offering, whether they have full time approved teaching staff and approved principals.
The city colleges have been directed to update their websites and asked to put details of the affiliation, approval of intake capacity, syllabus information, NAAC grade, the fees structure, teaching and non-teaching staff details and facilities provided by the colleges.
Recently the varsity
had barred 73 colleges in Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar including 17 from the city from conducting fresh admissions after they failed to comply with varsity norms of having approved teachers and principals and required mechanism to run the college.
“Since there is a big rush for the admissions now, students will be taking admissions in the city colleges without taking certain precaution, we have appealed them to cross check before taking admissions,” said Dr V B Gaikwad, the Director of Board of Colleges and University Development.
It has been observed that the web sites of various colleges are not updated and it is confusing for the students to judge the college while taking admissions.
“It will now be mandatory for the colleges to update their web sites so that students will have clear idea about the institution and he or she can take admission by looking at the web site,” said Gaikwad.
