In order to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has interlinked all its substations working in the IT park.

Now, the MSEDCL is also constructing a substation of 400/220 KV capacity at phase III to provide electricity on demand.

Understanding the requirement of the Hinjewadi IT park, the electricity distribution company has installed a 220/20 KV substation with a capacity of 150 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA).

“The company had enough electricity but to supply the power effectively, we wanted to build the infrastructure. By constructing the 150 MVA capacity substation, we have achieved this goal,” said a MSEDCL official.

He added, “Besides increasing the capacity by 150 MVA, a substation of 400/220 KV capacity is being constructed in phase III to cater to the future demand of electricity by companies. We have also proposed one more substation of 220/33 KV and 100 MVA capacity so that we can provide electricity immediately on demand.”

“All these substations will be interlinked so that if one substation breaks down, power supply can be still provided through other substations,” he said.

MSEDCL has already constructed 150 MVA capacity substation in  phase I which provides electricity to companies like Wipro, Infosys, KPIT, Cognizant, etc. In phase II, the company has constructed 100 MVA capacity substation which provides electricity supply to companies including Wipro, DLF, Dynasty, etc. The companies in third phase which are known as ‘blue chip’ companies are getting supply at 40 MVA capacity substation.
