Tyre burst kills 1, injures 3 on E-way

In yet another incident of tyre burst, one person was killed and three others sustained serious injuries when a car fell over the bridge at Kiwale Phata, near the exit (Pune end) of Pune-Mumbai expressway.

The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the retaining wall of the bridge while turning and took a 10-feet drop into a ditch, off the road.

The incident took place on Wednesday night at 10 pm, when the Innova car bearing registration number MH-13-B-2854 was on its way to Solapur. Highway traffic police have identified the deceased as Amarnath Mahadev Kalekar (28), a resident of Samrath Mitra Mandal and the other three injured have been identified as Manju Jagannath Kalekar (35), Jagannath Mahadev Kalekar (40) and Gaurav Jagannath Kalekar (05).

Assistant police inspector Mahadev Agade, who is investigating the case, said, “The incident took place towards the end of the expressway. Amarnath was driving the car at high speed and the front left tyre burst, following which the car rammed into the wall before it fell under the bridge.”

The victims were rushed to Lokmanya Tilak hospital, where Amarnath was declared dead on arrival while the other three are undergoing treatment.
