'Tortured' by wife, man ends life

Even as the world was celebrating International Men’s Day on Tuesday, this 32-year-old man may have been contemplating to end life suspecting his wife closeness with a much younger man.
Rajkumar Thakkur of Laxminagar in Moshi committed suicide at his house on Wednesday.

The deceased’s brother Arun (32) has lodged a complaint with Bhosari MIDC police against deceased’s wife Renu (25) and her alleged paramour Rahul Rajput (19) from Chakan. The duo has been arrested under relevant sections of IPC comprising abetment to suicide and an act done by them with common intention. 

MIDC Bhosari police station senior inspector DB Patil said, “Rajkumar was the father of three daughters. The deceased and his wife Renu used to have regular fights on petty issues as their family was a joint family. A month ago, the couple started living separately from his parents but his wife used to taunt him over salary, work timings etc.

“The deceased suspected that Renu was having an extramarital affair with his friend Rahul. The deceased’s relative claims that Renu used to beat him and insult before others.”

According to the police, on Wednesday, Rajkumar caught Renu red-handed talking to Rahul. Later at night, he took his wife’s sari that which she had worn during marriage and strangulated himself.

On Thursday, the duo was produced before the court of judicial magistrate (first class) and remanded in one day police custody.
