Three killed on Mum-Pune highway mishap

Pune: Three persons, including two minor students, were killed and one person was seriously injured when a Toyota Fortuner SUV and a water tanker collided near Pathargaon, about 50km from Pune on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway on Tuesday.
The Pune rural police have identified the deceased as Vrushabh Shailendra Sakhre, 16, Sureshkumar Sugtam Panikar, 17, (both residents of Chinchwad) and Omkar Netaji Kashid, 20, of Chikhali. The injured tanker driver has been identified as Sagar Ashok Bhujbal, 29, a resident of Loni Kalbhor.
The deceased were travelling in the SUV from Lonavala to Chinchwad, while the tanker was going towards Lonavala from Pune. Bhujbal lost control and his vehicle and it jumped the divider and collided head-on with the SUV.
The traffic was disrupted for three hours on the highway.
