Three persons drowned while immersing idols during the conclusion of the 10-day Ganpati festival in Nashik on Wednesday. While two boys drowned at a pond in Wahegaon village, a 35-year-old man drowned in the Palkhed dam.
The deceased have been identified as Vaibhav Shinde, 17, Sagar Bachchav, 20, and Vijay Ahire (35).

The three bodies were fished out late on Wedensday night with the help of locals and handed over to their families after a post-mortem, police said.

However, the Ganapati visarjan passed off peacefully in Nashik. Since the morning people made their way to Gangaghat on river Godavari for immersion of Lord Ganesh.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and many NGOs had made elaborate arrangements at the Gangaghat and many other places along the river to ensure a peaceful immersion.
