Social media is rapidly becoming the best friend of almost every individual across the globe. On Monday, 30th of June, Lighthouse Insights along with The Other Guys, Uber and Opera Mobile browser have arranged for a gathering of like minded social media enthusiasts at Jimmy Hu in Koregoan Park 7:00- 8:30 pm.

Mashable who has been celebrating social media day on 30th of June for 5 years now was Lighthouse Insights inspiration. Mr. Prasant Naidu, founder of Lighthouse Insights said, "This is an event which is celebrated globally and will be celebrated in Pune this year for the first time." The main idea of the event is to give a platform for the bloggers and other social media users to meet and get to know each other he added. 
The event will also see the presence of Joint commissioner of Police, Sanjay Kumar who shall address the crowd about the use of social media for positive change like that of helping the police in their investigations. He shall also be talking about how the Pune Police themselves are trying to get familiar with the social medium forum and how Punekars can help them. 
Pratik Gandhi founder of Digiwale, a digital marketing company from Pune who will be celebrating its 1st anniverssary as a part of the event said, "Digiwale too started last year on 30th June itself are this is another reason for our excitement," "As far as the event is concerned it is high time that Pune becomes a social hub like the other bigger cities and this is one attempt at doing so. A cultural shift is required," he added. 
Uber a new cab service venture in Pune has partnered with Lighthouse insights to provide free rides to those going to the event. Mr. Sanil Bhatia, General Manager of Uber, Pune division expressed his views on this partnership. He said, "The main reason for this partnership is to help make the event even better as I believe that Pune has the right kind of audience for an event like this.The safety of the people is also ensured as they would not be drinking and driving." 
Manish Pandey a frequent blogger and columnist told dna, "This is a global event celebrated in bigger cities all over and he is glad that Pune too will be celebrating it this year." When asked what is the one thing he would like to tell all those who use the social media, he said, "It is important that they use it responsibly and politely. No harm of any kind should come to anyone via the posts or blogs."
